What is a moon sign?
The zodiac sign the Moon occupied at the moment you were born. Where the sun sign describes the identity you are building, the moon sign describes your emotional baseline — how you react, what soothes you, and what you need in order to feel safe.
Can I find my moon sign without a birth time?
Usually. The Moon stays in one sign for about two and a half days, so a noon estimate gives the right answer most of the time. It fails when you were born within a few hours of the Moon changing sign, which is roughly a one-in-twenty chance. This calculator tells you the exact degree, so you can see how close to the boundary you were.
Why do different sites give me a different moon sign?
Almost always a time-zone problem. Many calculators apply today's daylight-saving rules to a historical date, which shifts the birth moment by an hour and can push a borderline case into the neighbouring sign. This one applies the rules that were actually in force at your birthplace on that date.
Is the moon sign more important than the sun sign?
It is more private. Most people recognise their moon sign description faster than their sun sign one, because the sun sign is the part other people comment on and the moon sign is the part you actually live inside.
